You're not a f*ck up 🙅🏽

Hi friend,

Here's some hard truth: Sometimes we mess up, and sometimes other peoples' feedback about us is right. We were late. We got defensive. We weren't listening. We hurt someone else.

We need to own these mistakes.

But, at the same time, be careful not to let, "I fucked up," become, "I'm a fuck up." ...becuase you're not!

Talking about 1) what happened and 2) who you are are very different things.

You can fuck something up, take responsibility for it, apologize, learn something, and still be okay with yourself.

If hearing something difficult about yourself tends to make you either fight back or feel like shit about who you are, please stick around. That’s exactly the kind of stuff we work on here.

Some people aren’t there yet. Some people are actively working on themselves, and some people are avoiding their shit like it’s their full-time job. 😂 But...

Hi friend, One of the biggest “traps” of being a therapist—and honestly, this is probably true of a lot of jobs—is giving so much of yourself at work that there’s not enough left of you when you get home. As therapists, we spend our days listening, holding space, caring, problem-solving, empathizing, and showing up for people who need us. That’s meaningful work! But it can also be exhausting work. And sometimes, without even realizing it, we can start giving away so much of our emotional and...

Hi friend, I'm keeping the more personal sharing rolling this week! I wanted to share one of my favorite breakfasts with you. Growing up, my mom would consistently make me and my brother gallo pinto with a fried egg for breakfast. Child, it really is one of my favorite breakfasts. 😂 Some meals just feel like home, no matter how simple they are. The foods we ate in our childhood carry core memories of where we come from. They connect you to your culture and to the version of yourself that...
