Hi friend, I'm keeping the more personal sharing rolling this week! I wanted to share one of my favorite breakfasts with you. Growing up, my mom would consistently make me and my brother gallo pinto with a fried egg for breakfast. Child, it really is one of my favorite breakfasts. 😂 Some meals just feel like home, no matter how simple they are. The foods we ate in our childhood carry core memories of where we come from. They connect you to your culture and to the version of yourself that existed before you had to figure out who you were supposed to be. I think we sometimes underestimate how important that is. Try going back to the foods you grew up eating, the music your family of origin played, the language you heard as a child, the traditions that made you feel connected to your culture. This kind of remembering can be a comfort. It doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It just has to make you feel like YOU. Now excuse me while I go make some more gallo pinto. Coach Jose 💛

Hi friend, I've been sharing a bit more personally over on Instagram lately. Because when I was younger, I had to learn to read other people before I read myself, and over time this narrowed my range and kept me from choosing my own clarity. What changed wasn’t...
Hi friend, You're probably familiar with this feeling: You've made plans. You said "I'll be there," but then that I-do-want-to-go feeling hits. Maybe the work week was more draining than you expected, or your mental health is at a low point. And now you have a decision to make: to go or to stay. But I want to remind you that the decision doesn't have to be black or white. Because you're a complicated human. It's normal to be tired and still want to see your friends. You can stay home and...
Hi friend, If you're one of those people who feels like you always have to be doing something, we might have a problem. However, I don't want you to swing the complete opposite direction. Don't do nothing! Instead, give yourself a little bit more room before your automatic habit to be productive takes over. Here are the two questions you can ask yourself when you have the urge to be productive for productivity's sake: What happens if I don't do the thing? What am I working toward? Take a...
