You’re allowed to take the day off 💛

Hi friend,

I took a day off recently. Like actually took the day off. i didn't see any clients. I went on a hike.

It was so nice!

I remembered how much I love a good hike. How good it feels to be outside, moving my body, breathing fresh air, and remembering that there’s a whole world happening beyond my inbox and to-do list.

I also remembered how lucky I am to live near such beautiful trails. Sometimes the things that help us come back to ourselves are right there waiting for us.

If you're in a season where you feel like you need some extra rest too, please take it! Give yourself permission to step away for a bit. Take the day. Go for a walk. Sit somewhere quiet. Call a friend. Take a nap. Do absolutely nothing. Whatever helps you breathe a little deeper and remember who you are outside of everything you have to do.

Let’s keep doing the little things that bring us back to who we are.

Hi friend, We all have areas of growth and shit to work on. It’s easy to see someone else’s shit and think, Damn, they really need to work on that. And maybe they do. But here’s the thing: it’s not just them. It’s not just you. It’s ALL of us. Every single person you know has something they’re working through. Some people are aware of it. Some people aren’t there yet. Some people are actively working on themselves, and some people are avoiding their shit like it’s their full-time job. 😂 But...

Hi friend, One of the biggest “traps” of being a therapist—and honestly, this is probably true of a lot of jobs—is giving so much of yourself at work that there’s not enough left of you when you get home. As therapists, we spend our days listening, holding space, caring, problem-solving, empathizing, and showing up for people who need us. That’s meaningful work! But it can also be exhausting work. And sometimes, without even realizing it, we can start giving away so much of our emotional and...

Hi friend, I'm keeping the more personal sharing rolling this week! I wanted to share one of my favorite breakfasts with you. Growing up, my mom would consistently make me and my brother gallo pinto with a fried egg for breakfast. Child, it really is one of my favorite breakfasts. 😂 Some meals just feel like home, no matter how simple they are. The foods we ate in our childhood carry core memories of where we come from. They connect you to your culture and to the version of yourself that...
